The Saskatoon Professional Fire Fighters Association is the union that represents the 293 professional members of the Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services. We are proud members of the International Association of Fire Fighters. The membership elects their executive officers and executive committee members for two year terms. The object of this union shall be to organize the members and fellowship, to meet our employers, the City General Manager, the City Council, or any body of Committee connected with our employers or employment to negotiate working contract, conditions, and grievances, from time to time as the need may arise.
Our association has always been politically active in lobbying at all levels of government for legislation which protects and improves the safety and working condition for our members and the public we serve. This includes such diverse issues as; Bill 18, which amended the Saskatchewan WCB act to grant professional fire fighters presumptive status for five cancers (where a growing list of studies confirms the career fire fighters have higher incidences of certain cancers as a result of their chosen profession); the Mandatory Testing and Disclosure (bodily Substances) Act (gives the emergency responder the right to know if they have been exposed to any pathogenic agents and communicable diseases); W.C.B regulations on the protective equipment we wear and enhancing our role as Emergency Responders through training and regulatory changes in a layered pre-hospital care system.

Welcome to Saskatoon Professional Fire Fighters Union web site. Saskatoon Fire Fighters have a long and proud history serving the citizens of Saskatoon. Saskatoon Professional Fire Fighters “Local 80” has been part of the International Association of Fire Fighters since May 1918. As a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 80 executive and I take great pride in representing our members of the Saskatoon Fire Department, the men and women who make us the organization that we are today.
Through our web site we will inform the citizens of Saskatoon on who we are and what we do. We will be able to provide information on the latest issues and community events, that our over 293 members are involved with.
