It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a dear friend and Local 80 member, Captain Jay Sim.  Jay passed away suddenly on August 3, while at the lake with his family.  Jay has been a Local 80 member since 1982.   Details of his life, career and those he leaves behind can be found in the Friday August 6 edition of the Star Phoenix.  President Siemens and Treasurer Dishko, along with Firefighter Trevor Evans and Captain Vern Harrison presented a benevolence cheque to Jay's wife Barbara and passed on condolences on behalf of the entire membership.

The funeral for Captain Sim will be held on Tuesday August 10 at 1pm at The Saskatoon Inn, 2002 Airport Drive.  Local 80 will have an Honour Guard present.  All active and retired members are welcome and encouraged to attend to say farewell to our brother.  Active members please wear full dress uniform with cap, and all members meet at 12:15.  The directions to the assembling area will be posted in the lobby.
