This successful music program, with corporate head office in Kanata, Ontario was founded in 1980 by Frances Balodis and is now taught to 24,000 students annually across Canada, the United States, New Zealand, South Korea, Vietnam and Singapore. As Founder and Chairman of the Board of MYC, Frances Balodis has managed its growth from a one-person home enterprise to a profitable international business with more than 900 licensed music educators.
The Burn Fund – which focuses on burn prevention and education, as well as improving the quality of life for burn survivors – was chosen as the recipient because of the Music for Young Children® character “Fireman Fred,’ who represents the F key on the piano in our MYC classes. |
